Widbrook Barns

> First day here (Bradford on Avon) and we're being spoiled rotten. First time on e-bikes as well. Kathy's a natural. Me ? not so much - but I enjoyed it none the less. I had to laugh though as, a couple of times, I managed to 'fall off my bike' (aka crash) and both times the first words from Kathy were "nice roll!" Seems I may have been a parachuter in a former life 😀. No injuries, just a bruised ego :-).

> When we set out with the e-bikes we had thought we'd ride to Bath but… by half way through the day we were still not half way to Bath (too many dismounts and restarts due to the crowds) so we abandoned that goal and headed back to Bradford on Avon and the bike shop. We turned the e-bikes back in, collected our manual bikes and headed home to our little barn home. Plan B = taking the bus to Bath once the rains have stopped (Monday or Tuesday) and enjoying a carefree walk-about then.

> Our suite at Widbrook Barnes is fabulous. The photo shows the outside and each unit has a washroom with shower, and one or two beds depending on the floor plan. There's also a mini fridge, a TV and a coat closet. Breakfast (with a good variety of foods including bacon, eggs, sausages, etc ) is served each morning in a dining room right across from 'the barns'.

> We can ride our bikes, or walk along the tow paths to town. There's a myriad of canals around us. Each is lined with narrow boats… long ones, short ones, some looking brand new and others looking like they've been long abandoned (until a thin stream of smoke from the rusting metal chimney lets on that someone's living there). It's amazing how skilled the skippers are as they literally bend their long boats around tight corners or into place, waiting for a lock to open.

> Today (Sunday) we went out for a morning walk through the fields and are going to relax (and nap some more) this afternoon. There's some light rain falling now but the next few days will be drier. All is well. Hope all is well with each of you. TTFN. CJ
