That was our day yesterday. The fact there's a 'rolling strike' action ongoing didn't make it any easier. But we persevered, hauling our luggage up and into railway cars and double decker buses, and we landed in the beautiful village of Keswick in the area known as the 'Lake District'.
Before I go on, let me go back. We had a wonderful stay at the Widbrook Barns. Dick and his staff were super and we were very well cared for. We cycled the tow paths, walked about town and enjoyed the many wonderful sights and eateries. As this trip began as a celebration of our 25 years, we decided to treat ourselves to a very special dinner at the Italian restaurant recommended by David (the fellow who gave us a lift from the train station to the 'Barns' in Stratford on Avon. Bruno and his staff at Revellos (photo in next post, photo of meal below) spoiled us and we enjoyed a beautiful meal.
We also took a day trip to Bath and visited the Roman Baths… a very interesting bit of history and we enjoyed wandering about the town before heading back. We're now in Keswick for almost a week and look forward to exploring the many walking and hiking trails in the area. The weather remains very much like BC where, if you don't like it, just wait five minutes :-). It's warming up and we're seeing more sun each day; no complaints. Well, must go, breakfast is served at 0830 sharp and we don't want to miss that! Oh yes, we've landed in another great B&B; Abacourt House. TTFN. CJ
