Before we get too far away, we thought we’d share a few more scenes from the lovely time we spent around Bradford-on-Avon…
The British LOVE their dogs! It’s been wonderful to see these (mostly) well-behaved pups hanging out with their people in the local pub.

We enjoyed seeing the colourful Narrowboats along the Avon and Kennet canal (lots of family and friends on “hire boats”, out for the Bank Holiday weekend).
Our first bike ride down the canal towpath |
Volunteers were on duty assisting with operating the locks |
Volunteer Anita, welcoming us to BoA with Canal maps |
CJ (ever the “dock-rat”), lending a hand |
Waiting for the lock to fill |
Cafe lunch stop along the towpath |
The Avoncliff Aqueduct crosses over the River Avon. One narrowboat is waiting to cross… |
And here’s the (not)narrow boat, coming the other way |
Riding the path under the aqueduct |
A “cuppa” with cake to finish the afternoon
A walk through the nearby Widbrook Woods and a public pathway through a farmer’s field, to the local sailing club.
Signs on the gates urge walkers to mind they close it after passing |
The “smallest sailing club in England” |
Getting set up for the Sunday races |
The Club sponsors weekly races on this “wide” stretch of the Avon |
A few more sights around Bradford on Avon…
A surprise swing just off the towpath |
And last, but certainly not least…
Our delightful, generous and talented host Dick at the Widbrook Barns. Dick offered us a ride to the rail station on the morning of our departure. He showed up in his “Lorry” with a big grin on his face and insisted we take a photo.
You are the best Dick! Only problem is you’ve spoiled us for any future B&B!
Hope you enjoyed this little tour around Bradford on Avon.
Cheers,
Kathy
