OK so we deserted our chores…

And headed for the hills…around Sproat Lake. Lovely camp ground and perfect sites. It was time for a short trip with Lucy to make sure everything is working. So far so good Hope all is well with each of you TTFN. CJ

Good times at Pirate’s Cove

 Yup, we’re back. As one friend pointed out; yes, we began our summer cruise here, and we will finish it here as well. Each of us have visited this place many, many times..as teenagers with our parents and as adults. PCove is a very special place with lots of history (you’ve likely heard of the Brother Twelve) and present day beauty. Great trails to walk, a few beaches to linger on, a protected anchorage with shore tie rings, and… the MBYC Park Host program which we have enjoyed participating in since we moved to the Island and joined the yacht club. One of today’s photos is of a freighter sporting her sail. Today, many ocean going freighters are saving a little $ by using their version of sails when the wind is going their way. Apparently they can sport up to 6 of these sails. Who knew? So here we are, at anchor, on the last free day of our summer cruise…sigh. We head home tomorrow. Apparently one or two deer have run amok in our front gardens. We’ve seen the photos. It’s not pretty but I’m sure we can make suitable repairs. Anyway, we move on. We are healthy, as is SSpirit (all her parts appear to be functioning as they should) and the boat appears to have held together 😏. Mother Nature Rules

 There’s nothing like the rock and roll of a boat gently responding to the rubber snubbers you remembered to install fore and aft. And, there’s nothing better than being snug as a bug in a rug below decks… while the SE winds roar through the rigging. I am very happy with our decision to tuck in and let Mother Nature continue her rant without our participation. Those that claim to know, predict the winds should calm this afternoon and the seas should be ready for us to transit Gabriola Pass and head to Pirates Cove tomorrow. 🤞 I sure hope so. These have been easy days at Pages, catching up on small projects, going for walks in the forest (Kathy and Maddie long walks, myself shorter ones) and having time, finally, to sit quietly and enjoy our books. With time to consider our options we have decided to stay at Pages today and, hopefully, head over to Pirates for one or two days before heading home. This has been an interesting summer cruise, much like our spring maintenance sojourn, with very few of our carefully crafted plans actually working out. While it is a humbling experience, it has caused me to pause and think about what’s important and what can be left to sort itself out. That being said, I shall try to relax more and enjoy the moment(s) 😉. I hope each of you are enjoying good times and special moments….and not running full steam ahead into contrary winds.
